At just 16, Angel Gabriella D’Costa has made history as the first junior cricketer from Kuwait to represent Goa State, carving out a place for herself in the sport through sheer hard work, natural talent, and an unwavering passion for the game. Her achievements also include representing the Kuwait Senior National Women’s Cricket Team in the ICC World Cup Asia Qualifiers in Malaysia—an accomplishment that underlines her rapid rise in international cricket.
Born on December 4, 2007, in Kuwait, Angel’s sporting journey began early. At just five years old, she claimed a bronze medal in the Sub-Junior Girls 18–20 kg category at the 22nd Goa State Taekwondo Championship (2013). By eight, she was excelling in basketball as a forward in interschool competitions. She also shone in throwball, where she earned the Player of the Team award.
Cricket became her true calling in 2022 when, at 14, she moved to India to pursue professional training. Under the guidance of expert coaches, she committed to an intense schedule—training 4–5 hours a day to develop her skills as a dynamic all-rounder and right-arm pace bowler. Her focus on fitness, technique, and discipline quickly paid off.
In a landmark achievement, Angel was chosen as an opening bowler for the Goa State Cricket Team, marking her as the first Indian junior player from Kuwait to compete at this level. The following year, she donned the Kuwait jersey on the international stage, representing the senior women’s side at just 15. Her performances in Malaysia during the ICC World Cup Asia Qualifiers showcased her potential to become one of cricket’s brightest future stars.
