The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait has strongly condemned what it described as a “brutal Iranian attack” on the building of the United States Embassy in Kuwait. The ministry stated that the attack represents a “grave and flagrant violation of international norms and legal obligations,” particularly the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
These international agreements guarantee the inviolability of diplomatic missions and provide full immunity and protection to diplomatic premises and their personnel, even in situations of armed conflict. The ministry stressed that targeting diplomatic facilities constitutes a serious breach of established international principles governing relations between states and undermines the foundations of diplomatic engagement and global security.
Kuwait reiterated its commitment to international law and called for strict adherence to conventions that protect diplomatic missions and uphold stability and security at both the regional and international levels. The ministry also stressed that Kuwait reserves its full sovereign right to take all necessary measures and actions to safeguard its national security, protect its territorial integrity, and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.
