Two Kuwaitis and a Colombian Arrested for Social Media Video Mocking Country’s Situation
Authorities in Kuwait have arrested three individuals, two Kuwaiti nationals and one Colombian national, for allegedly mocking the country’s current situation in a video shared on social media.
According to the Kuwait Ministry of Interior, the suspects were detained after authorities detected the clip during ongoing monitoring of content across social media platforms. They face accusations including spreading false news, harming national interests, and misusing a telephone.
The ministry stressed that such behavior is unacceptable and reiterated the need for users to comply with laws and regulations governing the use of social media platforms. It also urged the public to refrain from publishing or circulating content that could harm the interests of the state, especially amid the current circumstances facing the country and the wider region.
The ministry called on citizens and residents to act responsibly and warned that the law would be firmly enforced against anyone found violating regulations.
