Kuwait Authorities Debunk Lockdown Rumors, Warn Against Spreading Misinformation
Kuwaiti officials have firmly denied rumors of an impending lockdown, stating that such decisions require a Cabinet meeting. The government has also cautioned against publishing unauthorized reports or videos, which can negatively impact security.
According to the Arab Times, the Kuwaiti government has recorded nine COVID-19 cases so far, with more being monitored. The Cybercrime Unit has taken legal action against individuals who have started unfounded rumors, such as the one about the Aliyah and Ghaliyah Complex being damaged.
The authorities have stressed that persistent rumors, including those about partial or total lockdowns, are unfounded. They have also warned that the Cybercrime Unit and the State Security Service are closely monitoring all matters related to publishing news or content expressing sympathy for terrorist organizations.
The government’s swift response and emphasis on combating misinformation underscore their commitment to maintaining public order and safety during this time.
