A super-fast way of calculation whereby you can solve complex problems like 998 × 997 in less than five seconds is Vedic Maths,” says Dhaval Bhatia, renowned Indian mathematics wizard, currently in Kuwait for a three-day workshop at Carmel School. This marks his third visit to Kuwait.
Hailing from Mumbai, Dhaval Bhatia is the world’s youngest trainer and author, as well as a qualified lawyer and Associate Company Secretary (ACS). His workshops cover Vedic Mathematics and Memory Techniques, and he has trained over 200,000 students across more than 15 countries, making mathematics simpler and more enjoyable.
Interestingly, Bhatia was an average student during his early college years until he discovered Vedic Mathematics — a set of calculation methods developed by an ancient Indian spiritual guru. These techniques transformed his approach to mathematics, enabling him to solve complex problems with remarkable speed. Inspired by this, he began conducting workshops and seminars to share these methods with others.
“Vedic Maths offers numerous techniques to perform calculations quickly and easily,” he explains. “For example, to calculate 75 × 75, take any two-digit number ending with 5, square it by writing 25 at the end, then multiply the first digit by the next number: 7 × 8 = 56. The answer is 5,625. This can be done in seconds. Such techniques are especially useful for competitive exams like GMAT, CET, and GRE. It’s like showing magic through numbers.”
