Kuwait’s Cooperative Societies Assure Ample Food Supplies and Strategic Stocks
The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dr. Sayed Issa Mahmoud, has affirmed that all food commodities remain readily available across Kuwait’s cooperative societies. He stressed that the country’s strategic stock is sufficient to meet the demand.
Mahmoud explained that the ministry had activated its emergency plan even before the recent developments, ensuring that supply chains and inventory levels remain stable. The ministry operates a dedicated control room that monitors the situation in cooperative societies, allowing them to quickly identify and address any shortages.
The integrated financial and administrative system linking the ministry with cooperative societies provides real-time data on the number of employees, Kuwaitization levels, financial connections, and various operational activities. This system enables the ministry to maintain a close watch on the situation.
Mahmoud emphasized that the ministry’s primary role is to serve the public, and shelters across the country have been fully equipped. In coordination with Civil Defense, 95 locations have been approved and prepared as shelters.
Mahmoud reassured citizens and residents that Kuwait has ample resources to meet their needs, stating, “We live in a country of abundance where everything is available. Nothing is lacking, and we are committed to ensuring that all essential needs of citizens are met.”
