Kuwait, India Launch First Joint Defense Committee Meeting

Kuwait and India held the first meeting of their joint defense committee in New Delhi on Friday, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations. The meeting resulted in an agreement to enhance defense cooperation across multiple areas including training, military exercises, military medicine, defense industries, and research and development.

The gathering was co-chaired by Indian Defense Ministry Secretary Amitabh Prasad and Brigadier General Raed Al-Sakran, who led a five-member Kuwaiti delegation. According to India’s defense ministry, the meeting represents an important step toward implementing objectives outlined in the memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait in December 2024.

During the visit, Brig Gen Al-Sakran paid respects at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, laying a wreath in honor of India’s fallen soldiers. The Kuwaiti delegation also engaged in discussions with representatives from India’s defense industry to explore potential areas of cooperation between the two nations.
