The France-Kuwait Alumni Gala 2026, held at the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), brought together French higher-education alumni, diplomats, academics and professionals in Kuwait to celebrate scientific talent and innovation. Organized under the theme “Scientific Talents: Discover, Innovate, Entrepreneur,” the event showcased the experiences of Kuwait-based graduates from French universities and the role of alumni networks in strengthening ties between the two countries.
The gala featured speakers from diverse professional fields including medicine, healthcare, economics, law and business. Presenters included Dr. Maryam Al-Qabandi from Kuwait University, Dr. Mansour Sadeqi, an orthopedic surgeon, Sheikha Sarah Al Sabah, founder of Futuresmaker, and academics from GUST including Dr. Fida Karam and Dr. Wasim Daher. Their educational backgrounds span prestigious French institutions including Sorbonne, Paris-Descartes, EDHEC and the University of Strasbourg.
The event highlighted Franco-Kuwaiti cooperation in research, healthcare and higher education, including collaboration between the Dasman Diabetes Institute and Inserm. The gathering also underscored Kuwait’s growing Francophone community, with nearly 500,000 French speakers and approximately 1,400 French teachers in public and private institutions. The expansion of French-language education to secondary school level was noted as creating further opportunities for students pursuing higher education in France.
