Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has arrested three people for selling and delivering electronic cigarettes to high school students by hiding them inside food orders. The Criminal Security Sector launched an investigation after receiving information about e-cigarettes spreading among high school students.
The Capital Governorate Criminal Investigation Department identified a grocery store allegedly used to receive, prepare and package orders while concealing their contents. After obtaining legal authorization, investigators arrested one suspect during a delivery. Authorities then raided the premises and arrested two additional suspects, with assistance from Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition.
According to the Ministry of Interior, all three suspects admitted involvement. Two managed the grocery store, prepared orders and concealed electronic cigarettes inside food items for financial gain. The third suspect delivered the orders while knowing their contents.
The ministry warned parents that this case revealed methods used to reach minors by exploiting delivery services and concealing products among ordinary food items. Parents are urged to monitor their children’s purchases and delivery orders, pay attention to products obtained from shops, and maintain open communication about smoking dangers. The ministry stated it would continue monitoring and arresting those targeting minors through such practices.
