In a significant boost to consumer empowerment, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce has recently emphasized the vital role consumers play in the regulatory framework, equating their importance to that of field inspectors. During their latest inspection tour of cooperative societies, the ministry announced an innovative enhancement to consumer engagement via the “Sahel” app.
This groundbreaking application provides a streamlined platform for consumers to lodge price complaints electronically, removing the outdated necessity of visiting service centers. With this digital leap, processes are more efficient, saving both time and effort for all parties involved.
The app’s intelligent system automatically directs complaints to the nearest relevant center based on the user’s location, expediting the resolution journey. For instance, submissions from Hawalli will reach the Jabriya center, while issues in Salmiya are addressed locally, thereby ensuring prompt and effective action.
The Ministry underscored that this strategic mechanism fortifies the regulatory landscape and enriches oversight. Through the “Citizens’ Eye” initiative, the ministry extends its efforts, fostering enhanced consumer rights protection and promoting transparency within cooperative societies.
As Kuwait moves forward with these digital innovations, the ‘Sahel’ app stands as a testament to the nation’s commitment to consumer empowerment and operational transparency.
