KPC Adjusts Employment Terms for Ex-Kuwaiti Citizens

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries have implemented new employment terms for individuals whose Kuwaiti citizenship has been revoked. The changes follow a directive from the company’s chief executive officer, based on correspondence from the Council of Ministers referencing Cabinet Decision No. 1188.

The decision covers individuals whose nationality was withdrawn under Article 13 (Paragraph Four), including those cited for significant achievements, participants in the 1965 census, and offspring of Kuwaiti mothers.

Affected employees may continue working through public or private contractual arrangements but are barred from leadership or managerial positions. KPC has reclassified these workers under fixed-sum employment agreements designated for non-Kuwaiti personnel. The new contractual terms take retroactive effect from the day immediately following the citizenship revocation decree.

What This Means for Expats: Expat workers at KPC should be aware that employment classifications and contractual arrangements can change based on citizenship status changes, and understanding these reclassification protocols is important for long-term employment planning.
