Armenia Seeks Kuwait Partnership in Peace, Trade and Technology

Armenia views Kuwait as a key partner in promoting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, while pursuing expanded bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, tourism, education and technology sectors.

Armenian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Dr Arsen Arakelyan made these remarks at a reception marking Armenia’s National Day, attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Hamad Al-Mishaan and diplomatic officials. He praised Kuwait’s regional role in supporting peaceful conflict resolution and humanitarian assistance.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1994, with Armenia opening its embassy in Kuwait in 2010 and Kuwait reciprocating in 2011. Since then, cooperation has expanded through agreements covering economy, investment, agriculture, culture and education.

Ambassador Arakelyan highlighted Kuwait University’s provision of approximately 70 scholarships to Yerevan State University, and the Al-Babtain Foundation’s support for the Centre for Arabic Literature at the university. The first Armenia-Kuwait Business Forum was held in January at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry to explore sectoral cooperation opportunities.

On economic development, Arakelyan noted Armenia’s technology sector has grown significantly, with technology companies increasing more than 12-fold since 2018. He also highlighted $7 billion in investments for artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centres using NVIDIA Blackwell technology, inviting Kuwaiti institutions to explore partnership opportunities.
