On August 29, a case initially reported as a fire at a livestock pen in Al-Salmi has been revealed as a premeditated murder investigation. The Criminal Security Sector’s General Department of Criminal Investigation in Al-Jahra Governorate arrested a Bangladeshi national suspected of killing a Gulf national and setting fire to the site to conceal the crime.
The investigation began when security personnel responded to a report of a fire inside a livestock pen with a deceased person discovered at the scene. Upon examination, investigators found the charred body of a Gulf national but quickly identified inconsistencies suggesting the death occurred before the fire. Blood traces discovered inside the victim’s vehicle prompted investigators to shift their focus from an accidental fire to a suspected homicide.
Investigators conducted an extensive search of the area, collecting evidence and tracing the victim’s movements and belongings. Clothing and personal items belonging to the victim were recovered, and investigators found indications that someone had attempted to conceal or destroy evidence. As the investigation progressed, attention turned toward the livestock pen’s guard.
When confronted with the investigation’s findings, the suspect confessed to committing the crime. According to the Ministry of Interior, the suspect stated that he assaulted the victim with a wooden stick following a dispute. He then moved the injured man to the fodder area inside the livestock pen before setting fire to the location, allegedly intending to kill him and conceal the crime.
Investigators determined that the suspect had also attempted to erase traces of the crime by removing bloodstains and disposing of some of the victim’s belongings to prevent investigators from establishing what had happened.
The suspect was taken into custody, and necessary legal procedures were completed before he was referred to competent authorities for further legal action. The Ministry of Interior stressed that Kuwait’s security agencies will continue to investigate criminal cases, uncover the circumstances surrounding deaths, and apprehend those responsible. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing anyone who attempts to threaten public safety or tamper with the security of society.
