Kuwaiti Authorities Arrest Individual for Spreading Fake Video About Attacks on Mahboula Towers
As part of ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability, Kuwaiti security agencies have arrested an individual for circulating a video on social media containing false claims about attacks on residential towers in the Mahboula area.
Authorities had detected a video making baseless claims that high-end towers were being targeted. Through intensified investigation and tracking efforts, the identity of the person who published the video was determined, and he was taken into custody, reports Al-Rai daily.
When confronted, the person admitted to filming and sending the video to a group via a social media application. He has since been referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that spreading false reports and rumors is extremely dangerous as it can create public panic, incite anxiety, and hinder the work of security agencies. The ministry reaffirmed that such acts constitute a criminal offense punishable by law, and anyone who disseminates false information will face strict legal measures to protect public security and community safety.
What This Means for Expats:
Expats in Kuwait should be cautious about sharing or believing unverified information on social media, as the authorities take a strong stance against the spread of false reports that could disrupt public order.
