A drone attack on Sunday targeted two fuel tanks belonging to the Kuwait Aviation Fueling Company (KAFCO) inside Kuwait International Airport, sparking a large fire but causing no casualties, authorities confirmed.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated that initial reports indicated only material damage, with no injuries among personnel or airport workers. Firefighting teams and emergency units swiftly responded to the incident, implementing established emergency procedures to contain the blaze.
DGCA spokesman Abdullah Al‑Rajhi said that all relevant agencies remain on-site to manage the situation and ensure airport operations remain secure. DGCA President Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al‑Hamoud Al‑Sabah is present at the scene, supervising coordination efforts among the various emergency and security teams operating at the airport.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the source of the drone or the extent of the damage to the KAFCO facilities.
