The Indian Community School, Kuwait was alive with energy as it welcomed the 27th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Chess Tournament from May 25 to 27, 2025. Over 250 young chess enthusiasts from 12 CBSE schools across the country came together to showcase their strategic brilliance in three days of intense matches.
The event began on Tuesday, May 25, with a dignified opening ceremony. Proceedings started with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a soulful prayer song. The audience stood in respect for the national anthems of both Kuwait and India.
Principal and Senior Administrator Dr. V. Binumon extended a warm welcome to all attendees, highlighting the mental discipline chess develops and commending students for proudly representing their schools. He expressed gratitude to the mentors and coaches for their dedication and officially declared the tournament open, setting the boards in motion.
As the competition progressed, ICSK’s campus became a hub of intense focus and silent strategy. Players studied each position carefully, weighing every move and anticipating their opponent’s responses. The matches featured everything from steady, cautious openings to bold sacrifices in the middle game. Each board told a unique story of resilience and quick thinking, and the crowd responded with quiet admiration and bursts of applause when a clever plan succeeded or a difficult defense held firm.
