Kuwait Strengthens Cybercrime Defense and Regional Cooperation Efforts

Kuwait’s Cybercrime Department is intensifying efforts to combat cross-border cybercrimes and strengthen regional security cooperation. Colonel Hamad Al-Hamoud, Deputy Director of the department, emphasized this commitment while leading Kuwait’s delegation at the 3rd Conference of Officials Responsible for Combatting IT Crimes in Arab Interior Ministries.

The department maintains specialized teams trained in digital investigation, evidence collection, criminal monitoring, and analysis. Al-Hamoud highlighted that Kuwait is leveraging artificial intelligence to detect criminal indicators early and establishing communication channels with commercial companies and government bodies to enhance coordination and information sharing.

A particular focus is combating fraud and cyber scams through collaboration with financial institutions and telecom companies. These coordinated efforts aim to counter emerging fraud methods and protect the community from evolving cyber threats.

What This Means for Expats: Enhanced cybercrime detection and fraud prevention measures strengthen protection for expat financial accounts and personal data across Kuwait’s banking and telecom sectors.
