Kuwait Wins Five Medals at West Asian Archery Championships

Kuwait’s archery team delivered an impressive performance at the 3rd West Asian Archery Championships in Fujairah, securing five medals: three gold, one silver, and one bronze.

The men’s compound bow team of Abdullah Malallah, Ahmed Al-Shatti, and Bader Al-Shallahi claimed gold, as did the women’s Olympic bow team comprising Suad Al-Bahar, Reem Al-Naqib, and Noor Al-Sharhan. Abdullah Malallah and Hanan Al-Mayas won gold in the mixed compound archery team event. The men’s Olympic recurve team—Ali Al-Zaid, Saad Al-Baloud, and Abdulaziz Bushahri—earned silver, while Ali Al-Zaid and Reem Al-Naqib took bronze in the mixed Olympic archery team event.

Omar Al-Shatti, manager of the Kuwaiti archery team, told KUNA that the results reflect the team’s outstanding performance and competitive ability. He dedicated the achievement to Kuwait’s political leadership and people, and praised the Kuwait Shooting Club’s board for their support and commitment to preparing athletes for competitions.

Two more gold-medal matches were scheduled for Wednesday: Abdullah Malallah in the men’s individual compound final and Hanan Al-Mayas in the women’s individual compound final. The tournament, running October 15–16, featured 72 archers from Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine competing in Olympic and compound archery across individual, team, and mixed team categories.
