Kuwait’s Sahel App Wins Two GCC Digital Government Awards

Kuwait’s Sahel unified government e-services application has won two awards at the seventh GCC Digital Government Award, hosted by Bahrain on Wednesday. Sahel received the Best Comprehensive Government Application award, while its “Newborn’s Journey” service won the Excellence Award in the Best Digital Government Service category.

Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Omar Al-Omar told Kuwait News Agency that the double recognition reflected Kuwait’s progress in developing digital government services and successful joint government efforts. He dedicated the achievement to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister.

Sahel integrates services from 42 government entities on a single digital platform, designed to transform service delivery by moving from individual services to integrated digital journeys centered on citizens’ needs. The Newborn Journey service involved seven participating entities: the ministries of Justice, Health, Interior, and Commerce and Industry; the Public Authority for Civil Information; the Public Authority for Manpower; and the Civil Service Commission.

Sahel Executive Committee Chairman Colonel Bashar Al-Sayed Hashem said the awards reflected success based on continuous coordination, process re-engineering, and stronger systems connectivity. The committee plans to accelerate service digitization, introduce additional digital journeys, and increase use of artificial intelligence and proactive services.
