The Zionist entity has launched a military campaign in southern Lebanon, ordering residents to evacuate the area as it expands its air strikes and reportedly sends ground troops deeper into the country. The attacks have killed at least 11 people, with the Zionist entity’s military warning that it will continue to strike Hezbollah until the Lebanese group disarms.
The conflict was sparked on Monday when Hezbollah attacked the Zionist entity in response to the killing of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, Hezbollah has carried out a series of strikes against the Zionist entity, claiming to have targeted sites including the Haifa naval base and an aerospace and defense company.
The Zionist entity’s military has told people living south of Lebanon’s Litani river to evacuate, warning that the army was “compelled to take military action” against Hezbollah in the area. This order covers a vast region of hundreds of square kilometers, marking the broadest evacuation yet since the fighting began.
The Zionist entity’s military has also reportedly entered the southern Lebanese town of Khiam, about six kilometres from the border, in what is its deepest entry since the conflict started. The Zionist entity has said it is creating a buffer zone inside Lebanon, but it has not disclosed the locations of its troops.
In addition to the strikes in the south, an air strike hit a hotel in Hazmieh, a predominantly Christian area in Beirut’s suburbs, near the presidential palace and several foreign embassies. Several people told AFP they had received recorded phone messages telling them to evacuate.
The Zionist entity’s attacks have also continued to target Beirut’s southern suburbs, where Hezbollah holds sway, following an evacuation order from the military. Strikes in Aramoun and Saadiyat south of Beirut killed six people and wounded eight others, while a strike in Baalbek, in Lebanon’s east, killed five people and wounded 15 others.
The conflict has taken a heavy toll, with the health ministry reporting that at least 50 people have been killed and 335 wounded since Monday. The World Health Organization has also reported that three paramedics were killed and six injured while recovering people injured by explosions in Lebanon’s southern Tyre district.
