Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran, the esteemed founder and former principal of Gulf Indian School (GIS), Fahaheel, passed away at the age of 78.
A native of North Paravoor, Kerala, she is survived by her husband and two children, Dr. Aruna and Dr. Rajeev, both of whom are based in the United States.
Mrs. Divakaran served as Principal of Gulf Indian School for over two decades, retiring in 2022. Under her visionary leadership, GIS grew into one of the most respected Indian educational institutions in Kuwait, leaving a lasting legacy in the academic community.
In a heartfelt condolence message, the school management shared: “She was not merely an institution builder; she was the soul of GIS — a woman whose quiet strength, radiant kindness, and unwavering vision transformed education into something sacred.”
Her exceptional contributions to education in Kuwait, and the generations of students she inspired, will be remembered with deep respect and admiration.
