At least 23 people have tragically lost their lives and around 160 others are hospitalized in Kuwait following a wave of methanol poisoning, confirmed by the Ministry of Health Gulf News.
The victims—all of Asian origin—fell ill after consuming contaminated alcohol. Symptoms ranged in severity, with 31 patients on ventilators, 51 requiring emergency kidney dialysis, and 21 people suffering permanent blindness or vision impairment .
Healthcare authorities across the country, including hospitals and the Kuwait Poison Control Centre, are fully mobilized to manage the crisis. The Ministry of Health stated that investigations are ongoing to identify how the dangerous liquor entered the market Gulf News.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait reported that approximately 40 Indian nationals have been affected. The embassy described the situation as “unfortunate,” confirming some have died while others remain in critical condition or are recovering.
